TESTMONIALS BY INTERNS

I conducted market research on Japan’s fresh produce and beef/wagyu, suggested Japanese sake marketing strategies and designed agricultural plans.Through this internship, my awareness of marketing increased. Not long ago, I thought marketing was just advertising on social networking sites, but now I realize there is a lot of steady work behind it. I also learned the importance of communication with the team and the company.

Our team studied the take-out market in Hong Kong and then proposed strategies for take-out shops covering location, pricing, menu, etc. I didn’t have much knowledge of marketing before, but through this internship I have learnt a lot. Also, I used my Japanese language skill and feel more confident now talking in Japanese. We had meetings every morning and submitted reports after research. I am very grateful that I was on the Kubara Honke Team.

To develop marketing strategies for Kayanoya’s products, ”Dashi” culture in Hong Kong, we had 5 research assignments: on-site observation research, interviews with the shop staff, research on competitors’ products, sampling survey research, and promotion channel research. I learned the business Japanese language and business culture. Our supervisors took good care of us. When I didn’t understand something, they explained it to me patiently.

By working remotely in a Japanese company, I can experience its work culture. I improved my Japanese, but I also learned more than expected. I can also learn more about agriculture and forestry through conversations with many people. The Japanese language, cultural experience, and exchanges with Japanese students were the best. I can learn a lot from a lot of people. I also sharpened my mind, as I had to consider many perspectives to make the best decision.

We focused on promoting dashi culture in Hong Kong and investigating marketing strategies, which aim to increase sales in its Hong Kong shop. We did a sampling survey, competitor research, on-site observation, promotion channel research, and interview with the staff. We had meetings every morning with the supervisors and worked very well together. As I`m not a business student, and not familiar with research and data analysis, so I learned a lot.

I loved the tea ceremony. It was a good chance to meet everyone, especially in the pandemic situation. Before the internship, the Japanese classes and cultural exchange activities were also amazing.
The organizers tried very hard to make us feel like we were in Japan. Kubara Honke also provided an orientation that taught us about business manners and the company. I think the internship is perfect. If we can travel to Kyushu in the future and meet together, that will be amazing.
